being the date at which

your present leave expires. I am to add that if you require more leave, it must be on the condition that you receive no salary during such extension, and "Subject to a reference to the Governor of Hong Kong. But that if you wish to avail yourself of this portion, you are at liberty to return to England in the meantime pending the reply.
